GREAT NEWS... BELHUS POOL RE-OPENS FRIDAY 25TH MAY!
Belhus Park swimming pool is over 40 years old and is ready for a complete overhaul of its heating and ventilation systems that are no longer sufficient or effective. The Pool roof and changing rooms have also seen better days. We have also found that due to its age it is not particularly kind to the environment either.
Therefore; Impulse leisure and Thurrock Council are due to invest over £1.2m into improving these issues for your comfort and pleasure.
So what are we actually doing;
- Roof Improvements: A completely new roof is being installed that will improve the insulation properties of the roof and reduce the energy consumption of the pool hall.
- Boiler replacements; Energy efficient boilers and new flu are being installed to ensure you get consistently balanced room and water temperature around the whole site.
- Filtration System replacement: Swimming pools recirculate the pool water, re-heat it and treat it to remove any unwanted bugs. Effective Filtration systems reduce the amount of chemical required to treat the water. Again this is better for the environment as we are using less chemicals and for you the swimmer that gets crystal clear water to swim in.
- Air Handling systems: The new air handling system will make sure the pool water temperature and poolside temperatures are neatly balanced, so you do not get that feeling of high humidity and stuffiness or the need to make a mad dash for the towel because the air temperature is too cool.
- Changing rooms: The changing rooms currently we admit are not very inviting, so we plan to improve the by replicating some of the quality finishes you now find around the rest of the Centre.

You may find during the changing room refurbishment alternative changing arrangements and/or a little noise from time to time but the disruption will be worth it.
Remember Belhus has far more to offer than just Swimming – Why not try some or all of these:
- Spinning (indoor cycling classes).
- Group exercise classes for men and women of all ages and abilities.
- The 85 station Fitness Suite.
- The 18 hole golf Course and new to last year why not try Foot golf (Golf but with a football).
- Golf Lessons for the less familiar or improvers.
What will happen to our staff?
Apart from our customers our staff are our most valuable asset and as such we want to retain them in Impulse Leisure. Many of them have been able to be accommodated at other sites during the refurbishment and those who cant will remain at Belhus Park in alternative roles. Don’t worry you will see the regular faces on your return to give you a warm welcome back.
