Hybrid sport footgolf takes the world by storm
These days, it seems we like to take innovation, wrap it more innovation and then sprinkle it with further innovation to create fusions of innovations on a whole new scale of untold innovation – phew, that’s a lot of innovation!
We’ve seen it with cars and machinery and now we’re seeing it much more in sport. Take footgolf, the latest trend to enter the sportiverse and more recently, Impulse Leisure.
What’s footgolf, you ask? The clue’s in the name
Footgolf is the name given to a hybrid of two widely popular sports, football and golf. The game is played much like a traditional game of golf; however, the aim is to kick a football as many times as it takes to get it into the enlarged hole.
With origins stretching back as far as the 1920’s, footgolf in its current form began in Norway in 2008. Before long, the rest of the world caught wind and adopted the interesting new activity. Now it even has its own UK governing body, The Footgolf Association.
Much like golf, footgolf has strict attire rules – it is played on a golf course after all. Players are expected to wear traditional golf garb. The only difference is that football shoes need to be donned.
Handy Footgolf tips:
1. Keep a mental check of wind conditions
2. Kick using the lace section of your boot
3. Keep your eye out for hazards!
4. Ensure your ball is inflated
5. Practice with both feet
