Corringham Leisure Centre Swimming Pool to Undergo Refurbishment
Impulse Leisure Corringham is undergoing a major refurbishment to the swimming pool’s plant that will last around 24 weeks, starting on the 5th of September.
This investment by Thurrock Council and Impulse Leisure will make the swimming pool more energy efficient, which will contribute to the Council’s objective of reducing its net CO2 emission to zero by 2030. The project will also improve the pool’s long-term reliability and sustainability and overall enhance the facility for the Thurrock community.
Impulse Leisure is operated by Thurrock Community Leisure, a registered charity and leisure trust that creates active and healthy communities. Impulse and the Thurrock Council will be working alongside one another for the refurbishment project, demonstrating their continued support and investment in the physical and mental wellbeing of the Thurrock community.
The swimming pool will need to be drained and closed whilst the refurbishment is taking place. However, the dry facilities will still be open to members, including the gym, health suite, and studio for classes. The swimming pools at Impulse Leisure’s other centres (Blackshots and Belhus Park) will be available to Corringham members for use.
The project is a huge investment in the Thurrock community, ensuring that the leisure facilities are up to date to keep customers and staff happy and make the centre more sustainable. There are many plans in place to achieve this, including:
- Replacing the pool’s water circulation pumps for the main pool and teaching pools
- New pool plant pipework
- Improving thermal insulation
- Improving access to the facility with a new staircase
- Upgrading the Plant Room with emergency lighting, alarm systems, and more
- Implementing heat exchangers to the main pool and teaching pool
- Renewing the roof covering on some roofs
- External decoration and refurbishment
“We are delighted to be working again with the Local Authority in improving services and facilities. This project is especially important as it not only improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the pool’s circulation and filtration systems, but it will contribute to the Carbon Neutral national agenda, that Thurrock Council and Impulse Leisure take very seriously.”
