Blackshots' teaching and splash pool with be closed from the 7th of June until the 1st week of July

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Thurrock Council have secured the funding needed to fully replace the teaching pool Air Handling Units at Blackshots Leisure Centre.

This will provide a more controlled air temperature that enables swimmers to enjoy their experience in the pool. It will also be more energy efficient, ensuring we are doing our bit for the environment.

The work is due to commence on Wednesday 7th June and is anticipated to be completed in early July 2023. This will unfortunately mean the closure of the teaching pool for the duration of the project, however, we have worked hard in fitting the current Blackshots program into our main pool & boom allowing us to continue to service all parties who use the pool.

To ensure that we provide as much access to the pool as possible we have changed some session times, and the duration of some sessions.

This means the following:

1. The main pool public and lane swimming bookable sessions will increase by 8% which I am sure you will all agree is great news.
2. We have however only been able to relocate 20% of the teaching pool public swim bookable sessions into the main pool. We will also look to increase public swim sessions at our otherpools during this time.

We apologise for the relatively short notice of this information, but we were unable to release there furbishment date earlier as it hadn’t been finalised until late last week.
