Impulse Leisure drives the activity agenda with another Girls Empowerment Day
Impulse Leisure drives the activity agenda with another Girls Empowerment Day inspiring 150 Students through Sport, Confidence and Positive Wellbeing. Impulse Leisure recently welcomed 150 Year 8 and 9 girls from William Edwards School for a Girls Empowerment Day. This is the ninth time Impulse Leisure has hosted the event for three separate secondary schools, which aims to break down the barriers young women often face when engaging in physical activity, while building confidence, comfort, and positive attitudes towards being active.
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of workshops, talks and activities designed to support their physical and emotional wellbeing. From understanding the importance of nutrition to recognising the strong links between movement and mental health, the programme encouraged girls to feel empowered in their bodies and confident in their choices. A highlight of the event was a keynote session from former boxer Hannah Beharry, who shared stories from her boxing career and spoke candidly about the challenges she has overcome .

Another of the workshops focused on periods and was delivered by Libby from Ove (an app offering puberty education, period tracker and period products), which aimed to both reiterate knowledge and normalise conversations on women’s health.
A student-led panel on body confidence was held, facilitating powerful conversations and perspectives among peers, encouraging open discussion and promoting self-acceptance among attendees.
Following the day, a survey conducted stated that 92% of the students enjoyed the Girls Empowerment Day and felt engaged throughout all activities. The survey showed that nearly 50% of the attendees rated the exercise class as their favourite part of the day, which was particularly pleasing for the team at Impulse Leisure to see.
We pride ourselves on making fitness accessible for young people and creating a safe, supportive environment for girls and women to become the best version of themselves.”
